Vic: Computer tremianls to be installed in Vic police cars

Computer terminals will reportedly be installed in Victorian police cars at a cost
of $100 million.

The Sunday Herald Sun says police will have offenders' records, drivers' details, vehicle
registration and intelligence data at their fingertips.

The report says the successful tenderer for the project will be announced tomorrow (Sunday).

The computers are to be fitted in 1100 Melbourne police cars and 135 ambulance vehicles.

Work will begin early next year, with the terminals to be installed late 2002 or early 2003.
