Qld: Man drowns after diving into river to escape police

BRISBANE, Feb 4 AAP - A 24-year-old man who dived into a flood-swollen river to escape
police was found dead today.

Police said the man jumped into the Caboolture River, north of Brisbane, after he was
approached yesterday by officers wanting to question him.

"He's decided of his own free will to try to swim across the river and got about half
